Exercise Anthem

Posted in My Weight-Loss Journey by Rachel

This week is going to be over before I know it. So much to do, so little time. But I am doing it, and I’m doing it good!

Before embarking on this new journey, I made every excuse in the book as to why I couldn’t exercise. ‘Not enough time’ was my favorite excuse because it didn’t seem like an excuse. It seemed like a legitimate reason! Alas, it was but an excuse in legitimacy’s clothing.

SNEAKY!

No more. Finding time for me between the 9a-5p workday, freelance of doom, being a wife/friend/sister/daughter/zombie killer (xBox, duh), food shopping, cleaning, showering, and herding llamas (I WISH!) is a must. If I don’t continue to push myself in the right direction, none of these tasks will be possible.

NONE, I SAY!

I won’t lie. I have those days when I would much rather be vegging to some TV or getting some extra freelance done so that I can lighten my load before the weekend comes. On those days, I turn to every source possible to get me moving. One of those sources is my awesome workout mix.

It was sent to me by a co-worker in November, and although it differs somewhat from my ‘everyday’ music, it gets me into the zone and keeps me there every single day. When I’m jammin’ out to my iPod and it randomly rotates in while I am at work or on the bus home, I instantly become pumped. It’s my motivation. It’s my anthem. Every time I hear it, it’s like I am hearing it for the first time. I heart it.

I can think of a few songs that could be added to it to make it absolutely perfect, but I will take a good mix where I can get it. Mixes that mesh perfectly into a seamless stream of beats sixty-minutes in length = hard to come by. It definitely sits at the top of my List of Awesome.

You can grab it off my server by ‘right’ clicking your mouse and choosing ‘save as’. Please note that there is a teeny, tiny bit of profanity around the forty-minute mark in the shape of a few f-bombs here and there by everyone’s favorite white-boy rapper Eminem. Other artists include Kanye West, Santogold, The Streets, and Britney Spears.

Woo!

My goal for tomorrow is to actually stay within my calories for the day. THAT WOULD BE NICE. On Monday, I went over by fifteen calories. Not a big deal. Today, I went over by twenty-seven calories. Again, not a huge deal, but I see a pattern. A PATTERN OF INCREASE. By Saturday, I could be doing the backstroke in a sea of a billion extra calories. Over my dead body!

On a similar note, I am changing my weigh-in day to Friday instead of Sunday. It makes absolutely no sense to weigh myself when the The Three Amigos are in town (aka after the three days I get to eat the most crapola). Props go to my mother for helping me see the err of my ways. (Note: if changing days has negative repercussions, my mother will be receiving a cake-bomb via USPS). Love youuu.
