Point A to Point B

Posted in My Weight-Loss Journey by Rachel

Nearly all of my cold symptoms have subsided — thank God! After working my ass off for the past seven months, the last thing I want to do is feel like crap for an extended period of time.

Which reminds me….

I want this fat off me and I want it off STAT! I didn’t realize how slow this process has become for the last three months until I responded to Caris’ blog the other day. Slow? What’s been slow about it?

I’ve lost a mere 15.5lbs in the last three months. Granted! I went on vacation for 7-10 days in both June and July, but there is no excuse. I am a capable 25-year old with zero injuries or health oddities. I should be losing at least 10lbs a month. AT LEAST. Or! If the pounds aren’t dropping, I should be shedding pant-sizes like no other mother.

I need to step this shit up!

Perfect example:

My friend Lindsay asked if I wanted to hit up a pub/movie theater this evening for some quality Streep time with another friend of ours. I was so, so, so incredibly close to saying ‘yes’ until it dawned on me: THE ANSWER SHOULD BE NO. Why? Because! I made a promise to myself that I would pick up the slack and hit the Y this evening after taking Wednesday off to recover. I also want to finish the rest of the week out with moderately clean eating. Will there be moderately clean eating at a pub/movie theater?

DOUBTFUL.

Will there be 25 min/5 min of run/walking x 2 at a pub/movie theater?

DEFINITELY NOT!

The ‘slow and steady’ mentality has definitely won races here and there, but I need to shelve the ‘lax attitude I’ve acquired somewhere along the way and step up my game. Sure, my fitness level has steadily improved. Sure, it’s great to be able to sit on the bus without suffocating the person next to me. At the same time, I need to be real. I haven’t been giving 100% lately and 90% just isn’t cutting it.

ONWARD!
