Underwear

Posted in My Weight-Loss Journey by Rachel

Is anyone else having a problem in this department? I mean, honestly. Why bother losing a bunch of weight if doing so banishes you to a life of wedgies? I’m at the point where every brand and every cut leaves me with the same cardboard-between-the-crack feeling. Walking up the stairs? Cardboard. Sitting down? Cardboard. Standing still? Cardboard. Treadmill? More along the lines of an Indian Sunburn, but I digress.

Am I doing something wrong here? Are there additional instructions I must be aware of now that I am no longer trying to stick a 271-pound ass into a small cotton sling? Is there some sort of dance or ritual I must perform before pulling up my drawers? If there is, I need to know about it.

STAT.

  • By far the funniest post I’ve read in a long time. Unfortunately I have no advice to offer you.

  • Yes. My old underwear are too big. In the style I like (boy short) the new ones I bought are a little too tight. It’s frustrating!!

  • I don’t wear any, actually.

    Hehehehehehehe :-P

  • Lol, this is too funny. I swear by thong underwear honestly. 99.9% of the time I can’t even feel them. There is the occasional wedgie, but it is extremely rare. The majority of the underwear I wear are from the Pink collection by Victoria’s Secret. Here’s a link to a pair http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=EH-240247&page=5&cgname=OSPNKPTSZZZ&rfnbr=6845. My only issue with them is that my boyfriend feels they’re a little too “girly” and not womanly enough. So I’m trying to branch out with some lace undies. Anyway, I think if you go with any cotton thong it should be pretty comfy. Like I said, I pretty much never even notice them on a day to day basis.

  • I used to wear thongs and I used to say I could not feel them. FALSE. But they were comfier than the standard underwear, which seriously fit like shit in all the wrong places.

The only ones I can wear are ones that are ALMOST boy shorts but not quite as long, and only the really soft stretchy material, and no hard waistbands.

not from gap was just giving u examp of style

  • I have had a problem recently with Victoria Secret’s underwear. I normally wear the cotton ones in a Small. Recently they were way too small. So then I got Mediums and those were way to big. I was like WTF???!! My weight hasn’t changed either…so now I am wearing my old worn out ones until I find a brand that I like. I even wrote the companies website about the issue.

  • LOL!! Man do I have a totally different post about underwear in mind! Anyways, can I suggest Fashion Bug? Too late, I already suggested it. Its a tad more pricey but I looooove their panties and plus, you can get them with the words on the buttocks as well. Ok so now that you and the rest of the blogging world know about my underwear, I guess nothings sacred anymore, so lets just talk about our bra sizes next…

  • Big undies are more freeing.

  • Have you verified that the tag is in the back?…I CAN’T EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS ENOUGH!

I spent an entire year trying to figure out why my boxers had a poop door.

  • LMFAO@Ryan

  • Hanes No Ride-Up Panties. If you don’t require “sexy” underwear, you should definitely get these. Trust me.

    • i was going to suggest exactly what kimberly did! perfect choice for working out, for sure.

  • Ryan, that was hilarious. :)

Can I suggest Frederick’s of Hollywood? They have a bunch of crazy sexy stuff if you’re also into something completely not practical but I find these:

to be the most comfortable I have ever owned. Best of luck in your quest. It took me forever to find a daily panty that I could wear to the gym and to work without having to yank it out of my @$$ most of the day.

  • hey Rachel, i just came to your site after reading confeffsions latest entry. thank you for such a great post and also congrats on all your success!!! so in response to your Underroo quandry, I wanted to share with you my blog. (well my 2nd)

maybe its up your alley? maybe you are up for it?? I hope you are great regardless and I thank you again for all the motivation.

  • Just found your blog! Congrats on your loss!

So the undies… I struggled with this. Clothes are not made for skinny women who used to be fat. Especially cute underwear. I understand the wedgie thing and it has everything to do with cut. I don’t know what your skin is like but I can imagine there is more than what the panties are designed for. Especially thongs. But maybe they are fine on you.

I’m a big fan of Calvin Klein undies. Your local TJ Maxx or Marshals may have some. High cut briefs I always found to be the best, they held me in the front, but didn’t cover so much in the back that they rode up. Hope that’s not tmi. Good luck finding something that fits you. Nothing ruins my day faster than a wedgie.

  • Hi there! I have ALSO lost 107lbs as of right now and I found your blog when googled this "weight loss + wedgie problem"! I have been having the same thing for about the past 30 pounds! I don't know what's up…. I have tried ALL kinds of underwear and with the exception of thongs can't avoid it. Did you come up with a solution??

    • So hilarious that you found my blog by Googling 'weight loss + wedgie problem'. The power of The Google is scary, yet humorous! I haven't found the perfect solution yet, but my MOTHER bought me some of those shorty-esque undies at Wally World and they're not too bad. They don't feel like underwear (not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet), but they certainly don't ride up the good 'ole crack. I'll assume that you've read some of the other comments and suggestions my readers and fellow bloggers have left on this post. There are some great ones. Oh, and CONGRATU-FN-LATIONS on losing 107 lbs! Life is good, isn't it?!
