Bow Chicka Ye-ah
Posted in My Weight-Loss Journey by RachelHoly freakin’ awesome, Batman. Today has been unbelievable. Actually, this whole week has been pretty stellar, but today — today takes the cake. What makes today the most bad-ass day in recent history? One word: hockey.
Yep, I played hockey today. It was a skills clinic rather than an actual game, but I had zero complaints. Anything involving a suit of armor, pucks, and blades of glory is enough to throw me into a state of elation. I honestly thought my heart was going to explode at any given moment. I was that pumped. Unfortunately, my ability to shoot the puck (in any capacity) has gone to shit, but I can still skate pretty well and stick-handling is not a problem. Growing up with a hockey stick as an appendage will have that effect on you — even if you haven’t played for ten years.
Ten years.
More on this topic later. For now, I’m off to the bowling alley with Chris while The Girl and her friend enjoy an evening of zombie-filled mayhem. For some reason, adding bowling to the laundry list of actives I’ve completed today seems like the perfect way to round out my evening.
If someone told me fifteen months ago that I would be spending my Saturday playing hockey for an hour, biking five miles, jogging five miles, and later bowling until midnight? I would have laughed in their face.
And then cried myself to sleep wishing it were true.
Anything is possible, my friends.
One step at a time.

Fifteen months from now I hope I'm putting up a "If someone had told me fifteen months ago…." post. Yay you. Me, I'm just starting. Trying not to think of the "I can't"'s.
Great blog, by the way. Enjoyed lurking through some old posts last night

You know, I am constantly saying the same thing. "If someone would have told me", it is an amazing feeling too!
Congratulations on learning how to play hockey! My thing for me was rock climbing and I was giddy that day and every day there after that I went and climbed up the wall.
Do you have a league for women to play there?

Hiya Rachel
I haven't commented on your blog before but I just wanted to tell you how much I love it!
I have just started my own blog (have more than you to lose) and reading yours (and others) has really helped me to clarify how I feel about some of the issues we all seem to share on this journey …
thank you so much for being an inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and making yourself known. Also, so glad to learn that you are starting your own blog. It has been a giant help to me during my journey — hopefully it will have the same effects on you. After all, the blogging world is full of some of the most wonderful, caring, kind, and honest (sometimes brutally!) people around. I've linked your blog up to my Google Reader. Can't wait to see what you've been up to.

You're just a badass! A real Samuel L. Jackson trapped it a tiny white woman's body!
